Albrecht, and Alexander Koelpin, for their paper entitled "Near-Field Scattering Phenomena in Monostatic Radar Applications Derived From Physical Optics" which has been awarded with the 2026 IEEE AP-S Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award.
The award-winning paper, that was published in the February 2025 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, proposes a near-field radar channel model based on physical optics, deriving a transfer function for monostatic radar systems that incorporates finite target dimensions and antenna radiation characteristics.
About the award
The S. A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award is given to the authors of the best paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation during the previous year. It was previously known as the “Best Paper” award and was renamed in 1985.
