In this episode of OJAP TALKS, George Eleftheriades, a leading figure in the field of metamaterials, talks with Mohsen Khalily, the Lead Guest Editor of the Special Section on Surface Wave and Metasurface Electromagnetic Engineering, about the latest advances in the technology of electromagnetic surfaces. Professor Eleftheriades goes through the appealing features of electromagnetic surfaces and reflects on their enabling role for the realization of a new realm of applications. He also sheds light on the exciting prospects of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces towards next-generation wireless networks and discusses emerging research frontiers including low-loss and broadband metasurfaces, active and adaptive metasurfaces, spatio-temporally modulated surfaces and new applications, and wideband wide-angle scanning metasurfaces.
