About JSTEAP

The IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Electromagnetics, Antennas and Propagation (JSTEAP) is a newly launched journal co-sponsored by the Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S), Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S), and the Communications Society (ComSoc). The focus of JSTEAP is on contributions that bridge the gaps between electromagnetics, communications, and microwave technology and manuscripts incorporating at least two of these aspects are particularly encouraged. All types of contributions are welcome including theory, experimental results, designs, applied engineering innovations, surveys, tutorials and reviews. Each issue of JSTEAP is devoted to a specific technical topic and this provides to JSTEAP readers a collection of up-to-date papers on that topic. These issues are expected to become valuable references to the research community.

The technical topic for each special issue is selected from proposals submitted by individuals having expertise in a technical area who also wish to make a significant technical contribution by bringing together the expertise of others working in the same area. Once the proposal is submitted to JSTEAP the Senior Editorial team will review it and decide whether it can be accepted for a special issue topic, requires revision or is not within scope. When a proposal is accepted the proposing individuals will become Guest Editors for that special issue and handle the submission and review process under the supervision of the JSTEAP editorial board.

All researchers are invited to submit proposals and instructions for submitting proposals are included in the Call for JSTEAP Issue Proposals. The success of JSTEAP depends upon a continuing flow of quality proposals.

JSTEAP was launched in January 2025 with the first issues expected in Q4 of 2025. Two issues will be published in 2025, three in 2026 and more beyond 2026. The first issue is devoted to "Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC)" and the topic was selected by the Editorial board.

JSTEAP is an Open Access format journal that fosters open science and expands the availability of options for authors and researchers. Open access format also supports authors work and needs in terms of funding requirements, readership, research impact and academic recognition. In JSTEAP, all articles are published under the Creative Commons attribution license, enabling authors to retain copyrights.

JSTEAP is committed to supporting open and transparent research exchange and enabling authors to embrace best practices in data and code sharing. Papers with AI components must provide access to their training sets and code in the public domain.

Scope

JSTEAP publishes innovative research in special issues that explore future antennas and propagation research challenges in complex electromagnetic environments. Each issue gathers contemporary research papers through Calls-for-Papers, organized around specific themes.

The articles in this journal are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE Publication Services and Products Board Operations Manual.

Each published article is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-anonymous peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.

The Article Processing Charge (APC) for papers submitted in 2025 is USD $2075 per article, plus applicable local taxes. IEEE members and Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) members receive 5% and 20% discounts, respectively.

These discounts cannot be combined and do not apply to undergraduate and graduate students. Information about IEEE's Low and Lower-middle Income Country Program is available here. Some institutions offer assistance for open access funding. Check our institutional partners list to see if yours is one.
