I grieve to inform you that Prof. Silvio E. Barbin (AP-S AdCom member) passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 1918 at Memorial Hospital in Miami during his trip to Chicago to attend the AP-S fall AdCom meeting.

Prof. Barbin was a much-appreciated colleague and friend, and a long-standing AdCom volunteer within IEEE sister societies (AP-S, MTT-S, and PE-S). He will be dearly missed by us all.  Dr. Barbin's positions included Fulbright Research Professor at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and Deputy Director of Centro de Tecnologia da Informação Renato Archer in Sao Paulo, Brazil. 

Prof. Barbin is survived by his wife, Rose, and two children, Fabio and Carol. The funeral service was held in the city of Campinas in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, October 20. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
