IEEE AP-S Awards 2015

Each year the APS recognizes individuals or groups of individuals who have made an impact on technology or the society in distinct ways. The 2015 AP-S Awards are denoted by the Society's Field Awards and Best Paper Awards. The Field Awards recognize distinguished contributions based upon technical achievements and/or excellence in education and teaching. Recipients are determined based on nominations and recommendations from APS society members. The Best Paper Awards recognize outstanding contributions in the 2014 issues of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, the Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, and the Antennas and Propagation Magazine. Papers are evaluated based on recommendations from reviewers and the journal editors.

The recipients of the 2015 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Field Awards:

Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award

Jian-Ming Jin

For outstanding contributions to graduate teaching, curriculum development, and research guidance of graduate students in the area of computational electromagnetics.

 

Distinguished Achievement Award

Nader Engheta

For seminal contributions in the theory, application, and demonstration of metamaterials, plasmonic optics, and chiral and omega media.

 

Harrington-Mittra Computational Electromagnetics Award

Levent Gurel

For pioneering contributions to the accurate solution of large-scale electromagnetic problems via integral equations, parallel computing, and fast algorithms.

 

John Kraus Antenna Award

Ashwin K. Iyer

For introducing innovative teaching methodologies to effectively engage and inspire undergraduate students in engineering electromagnetics.

 

Lot Shafai Mid-Career Distinguished Achievement Award

Mona Jarrahi

For pioneering contributions to plasmonic antennas and optical phased arrays for terahertz and microwave systems and being a role model for women scientists and engineers.
