The deadline for nominations is December 1st, 2017.
Distinguished Achievement Award
The Distinguished Achievement Award is given annually (if a qualified candidate is nominated) to recognize outstanding career achievement by an individual in the field of antennas and propagation. Preference is given to a member of the Society.
The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include:
• Contributions to fundamental electromagnetic theory and its advanced applications.
• Contributions to the theory of antennas.
• New methods and approaches to analysis, synthesis and design of antennas.
• New methods of analysis of propagation of electromagnetic waves, and
• Other new contributions relevant to the field of antennas and propagation.
Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award
The Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award is given annually (if a qualified candidate is nominated) to recognize outstanding career achievement by a distinguished educator in the field of antennas and propagation.
The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include:
• Excellence in teaching.
• Involvement with and direction of students to prepare them for effective careers in electromagnetics.
• Curriculum development with inclusion of current research and knowledge that reflects the state of the art in courses, and
• Authorship of research and course material
John Kraus Antenna Award
This award, established by John D. Kraus, honors an individual or team that has made a significant advance in antenna technology.
The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include:
• A new or substantially improved method or device for radiating or receiving electromagnetic waves.
• A new concept for the electromagnetic transmission, reception, or imaging of signals, an innovative use of materials or configuration of structures to achieve better electromagnetic performance, and
• A design that yields a heretofore unknown capability.
Donald G. Dudley Jr. Undergraduate Teaching Award
This award honors an individual who has made outstanding and original contributions to undergraduate education at the early stage of his/her career as an educator in the general field of electromagnetics, including theory, analytical solutions, numerical methods, antennas, propagation, phenomena visualization, and measurements.
The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include:
• Individual employed at the level of assistant professor or equivalent at an accredited engineering educational institution.
• Development and implementation of teaching/learning tools that are or can be made available to students and instructors worldwide, and have gained documented acceptance by students and professors.
• Documented excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Involvement with and direction of undergraduate students to prepare them for successful engineering careers.
• Curriculum development with inclusion of current research and knowledge that reflects the state of the art in courses.
• Authorship of educational material.
Lot Shafai Mid‐Career Distinguished Achievement Award
This award recognizes the past technical accomplishments and future potential of an outstanding woman of mid-career status in the field of antennas and propagation.
Eligibility and Criteria
Eligible nominees consist of women who are members of the IEEE, less than 41 years of age on December 31 preceding the year of nomination, whose prior technical accomplishments and future potential earmark them as current and future leaders in the field of antennas and propagation, as well as role models for future generations of women in the field.
Harrington-Mittra Award in Computational Electromagnetics
The Harrington-Mittra Award in Computational Electromagnetics is given annually to recognize outstanding achievement in Computational Electromagnetics. Preference is given to a member of the Society. The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include:
• Fundamental contributions to theory and applications of integral equations, differential equations and asymptotic methods in electromagnetics
• Innovative numerical methods for Antennas and EM Scattering problems
• Innovative numerical methods for analysis of propagation of EM waves
